No Tomorrow for the singles chart?

Leaving aside the fact that Orson are number one (there have been worse, last week for instance), it's difficult to know which is worse for the Official UK Top 40, the fact that it's the lowest selling number one ever, stalling short of the 20,000 level that has previously never been plummeted beyond, or the fact that no-one seems to care, to the extent that I'm struggling to find a link which isn't to a members-only viewable forum. Instead, all attention is on the three tenors in the album chart (no, not those ones)
Of course, we were in pretty much the same situation this time last year and the introduction of downloads sorted it out, but it's difficult to see what they can do now. Even the new rule change of allowing singles to chart a week before their physical release will spread sales out more rather than increasing them by much.
