As Finland's Lordi (imagine the above but with comedy white and blue Finland hat!) race away to win, time for a quick word on this year's (I've written a lot more for elsewhere which I will direct you towards when it's online) contest. The win actually seemed kind of inevitable from even before the contest, given the amount of coverage they got, but it was still great fun. There was a much wider variety of songs than last year's wall to wall Turkey/"Kiss Kiss" influences which led to better and, well, worse songs than ever, and the votes did go by a bit quicker thanks to not reading out every one although it did miss something, not least working out who actually gave France some points.
